This work, many years in the writing, initially stemmed from Harold Pinter’s play Betrayal. Exploring the autobiographical connection between Pinter’s work and his first marriage led to a consideration of betrayal in forensic cases, as well as in the family background of the author.
The book further explores the attachment relationships of the film director John Huston, and films that addressed attachment, as well as the author’s relationships with photographers such as David Seymour (Chim), and writers such as Brendan Behan and the British poet and writer Charlie Hamblett.
