Portrait of the author
Marne Trevisano
Chapter I
Marne Trevisano is the daughter of Ernest Anderson (EA), a well known music producer in New York who put on the Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong concerts at Carnegie Hall and Symphony Hall in the mid 1940s.
After her parents’ contentious divorce, Marne traveled on a reconditioned warship to England with her mother, as her father stood on the dock in New York harbor. EA soon followed to London, where Marne was raised around talented writers, musicians, film directors and artists, and visited and acted on various film locations.
Chapter II
At age 20, after years of exposure to a chaotic life, Marne went to live in the San Francisco Bay Area. There she took stock of her life with the renowned Jungian psychiatrist Crittenden Brooks, PhD, MD, who became head of the Jungian Institute.
Brooks was seminal in Marne embarking on many years of education, culminating in two doctoral degrees and a postdoctoral diploma, as well as an MA and a BA. She eventually became a licensed psychologist.
Chapter III
In 2014, Marne obtained an advanced certificate in Infant and Preschooler Mental Health from Alliant University in Fresno, California. The importance of maternal attachment was a premise of the program’s philosophy.
This related to Marne’s support of President Obama’s initiatives for government funded early childhood education, to make sure infants and young children were given the best start in life, irrespective of poverty, trauma or other difficult circumstances.
The effects of childhood trauma are long lasting.
Chapter IV
During the process of repair from a chaotic, traumatic childhood marred by neglect and overstimulation, the author practiced as a writer, a painter and a psychotherapist.
In 2017, the Central Coast Psychological Association, for which she was the newsletter editor and writer, won the Outstanding Newsletter Award from the California Psychological Association.
The same year, Marne wrote a play adaptation, which she directed, produced and acted in, based on a memoir about Hitler’s invasion of Czernowitz in Austria. The play was performed at her then home in California. Families who had been personally affected by the Holocaust attended, and one family read from a journal kept at the time.
Chapter V
After many years in California, the author now has a telehealth practice in the Oak Park, Illinois area. Throughout, Marne has based her practice on psychodynamic attachment theory models.
This work grew from the meeting of a childhood lived, an adulthood in clinical practice, and ongoing personal clinical repair. The effects of childhood trauma are long lasting. The book brings together Marne’s childhood memories with her later adult clinical theory and practice.
